Our history

Four sons, one shop, a family trade.

Mike Baier was a furniture maker working out of his garage when he joined Bristol Millwork. Each of his four sons came up the same way — sweeping floors first, then earning their place at the bench. That’s the personal touch you get when you call: the family that owns the shop is the family building your project.

Questions

Good to know before you call.

Do you work on historic buildings?

Yes. Architectural woodwork for historic facades — including gothic head and double-hung windows — is one of our specialties. We combine old-world traditions with modern techniques to rebuild original details.

Can you build something unusual or one-of-a-kind?

We welcome challenges. Our craftsmen have built everything from reliquaries and museum exhibitions to projects made of 100% reclaimed materials. If you can describe it or draw it, call us and we'll talk it through.

Do you only work in Philadelphia?

Our shop is in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, and we serve the Philadelphia area and beyond. Tell us where your project is when you reach out.

Do you offer environmentally responsible options?

Yes. We recycle almost 100% of the sawdust and solid wood waste from our facility, use water-based top coats with no heavy metals or formaldehyde and very low VOCs and HAPs, and can supply sustainably harvested FSC woods on request.
